The comstat codes were decrypted. The com access hub had been located. Recon had identified a route in. The crew was finally ready to break in and trigger a broadband burst of their evidence of Reactive Sequence’s dealings.
Their target was a communications platform located offshore in the arctic ocean of Los Xenesh 5. Their only resistance would be a unit of security bots that make up its automated defense force and a single mercenary freelancer to provide precision troubleshooting.
Shadowfang piloted the “borrowed” skiff under the cover of darkness as their midnight raid was launched. The most direct access was the communications umbilical in the platform’s underbelly, but proximity to the roiling waves meant the metal decking would be covered in thick ice.
When the crew finally tripped the platform’s proximity alerts the security bots rushed to intercept, but the ice seemed to slow them down even more than the crew. Jshal lead one assault flank with Nisi and Thero, both now equipped with jump belts. Shadowfang and the Hawthornes approached from the the other direction, splitting the security forces.
Shadowfang’s flank got stuck in quickly, but she rushed ahead of the Hawthornes and dove amidst the bots, shattering a Kiranin crystal. The resulting dazzling display temporarily confused the bots sensors and blinded the freelancer, giving the Hathornes time to close.
Meanwhile the speedy Jshal lobbed electrified napalm onto the bots that intercepted his team. Nisi and Thero began leaping over the few remaining bots to punch into expose flank of those still facing Shadowfang and the Hawthorns. Once Shadowfang pounded the freelancer into a fine past with her power fist, all that was left was finishing off the few remaining bots while the Nisi patched the infoburst into the communication umbilical. She let John do the honors, entering the final few keystrokes to beam the evidence across the galaxy.
Their job done, the crew fell back to the skiff and jetted off before more sec-bot reinforcements could cross the icy underbelly and reach them.
